About Us:
The Anesthesiology Department aims to perform all types of anesthesia in a safe manner and optimal conditions. Patients in this department are evaluated pre and post any surgical procedure.
Anesthesiologists participate in the pain management program, quality improvement plans, in addition to scientific and academic activities.
Services:
After the surgery, the patient is transferred to the recovery room to safely regain consciousness from anesthesia and receive appropriate post-operative care (monitoring vital signs, pulse, blood pressure, temperature, blood oxygen levels, etc…) In the recovery room, our staff work closely with patients to ease their anxiety and ensure their physical and emotional comfort.
Types of Anesthesia:
General Anesthesia: Most major operations are performed under this type of anesthesia, where the patient becomes completely unconscious and unaware of the surgical procedure. AWMV anesthesiologists work with each patient individually, to identify the best and most suitable combination of medications, taking into consideration the medical condition of each patient, the previous medications, allergies, and the type of surgery.
Regional Anesthesia: This technique aims to block the sensation of the body area which requires surgical intervention to prevent patient from feeling pain. The anesthesiologist injects local anesthesia (numbing medication) near the cluster of nerves that provides sensation to that area.
Epidural anesthesia: This procedure is blocks the pain in a particular region of the body. Epidurals block the nerve impulses from the lower spinal segments which results in decreased sensation in the lower half of the body.
